Bartender Job Description For Resume - How to Be Appointed As BartenderAn authentic bartender job description for resume is a must. This will help to fetch you the kind of applicants who are ready to face the tough testing process. You must be using your common sense to use them. There are a lot of fake ones floating around in the world and one thing is for sure that the bartenders are facing major problems with them.Let us consider the example of the bar manager. Nowadays it is not easy to get an interview as the bars cannot afford to have a bar manager for they will lose money if they do not hire them. But the bar manager can apply for the same but not for a bartending position.Bartending requires physical strength as well as the ability to handle yourself with people, so you should have the following qualities - mental strength, good eye sight, stamina, dexterity and determination. If you are unable to acquire these qualities, then the chance is very less. Do not be afraid to face the bar manager on your own and ask for some further training. As far as the credentials of the bartender are concerned, make sure that you are clear about the person's physical fitness and emotional maturity. To be sure about the truthfulness of the resume you should check it for the certification that will include the tests. The tests may vary from one test institute to another.Once you have selected the tests you will have to check whether they cover the specified topics or certain areas. If they do not cover the specified areas, you have to make sure that you go for other tests as they are the most appropriate. A candidate who fails in these tests should not be asked for the type of work. Background checks are necessary if you want to be hired as a bartender. Beforeapplying for a bartender job description for resume make sure that you have gone through all the companies that are available. Check out the background of the candidate and you should be sure that they have good skills . If you are applying for a less known job you should seek the permission of the management first. It is best that you seek the advice of a manager before you start your business. You should know that bartending is a very tough business and you need a lot of experience before you are able to step into the picture. There is a considerable amount of training that is needed and you need to prepare yourself mentally and physically. There is a difference between the bars that hire bartenders and those that provide training to bartenders. The training is important as it makes the difference between a poor bartender and a good one. They know how to treat customers well and how to cater to the guests on the spot. A bartender job description for resume should contain the skill sets of the candidate and you can check out the available job openings by keeping an eye on the classified ads.

Revolution at work comes in small ways

Revolution at work comes in small ways One of the posts on my blog that gets a lot of angry comments is the one where I explain why women should not report sexual harassment at work. The problem with reporting workplace sexual harassment is that none of us is going to change policy single-handedly. There is a huge risk with little reward if you report the harassment to human resources, because the law dictates that HR doesnt focus on your problems HR must protect the company, not you. When you report harassment, you become the companys problem. So a lot of people naturally ask, How are we going to change things if no one reports the problem? But no one changes corporate America by sacrificing her career. Which is what you end up doing if you report harassment. You lose your job. Not legally, but for some other reason. Because its so easy to fire someone and so smart for the company to fire anyone who complains about harassment. You can say thats unfair but you cant say its not reality. You are better off taking care of harassment yourself, and staying in the game and getting power at work to make change. Heres a great example of how that happens: Judge Kimba Wood, of NYC, receive a request to be excused from court for a Bris (the Jewish circumcision ceremony). Judge Woods response (which I verified) is a great moment for girls, and women, and for everyone, really. She shows us that if you do a great job at work, you can use your stature to make small earthquakes when you have the chance:

4 Most Overlooked Interview Questions

4 Most Overlooked Interview Questions Ive gone into interviews thinking that Im ready for anything, even though I didnt really prepare. I was feeling confident about my ability to adapt and come across well. I felt I had such a good handle on my career that it seemed silly to prepare for just an interview. You know what happened in those interviews? I didnt get a job offer. Oftentimes, I didnt even get invited back for the next round. Why? Because I was prepared to respond to questions but didnt prepare proactive responses to expected questions. You hear us talk about the importance of preparing for an interview all the time. One benefit is that you become smooth in your delivery and practice handling those tough moments. More importantly, you prepare for an interview so that you think about how you are going to reply to all the questions you might get. When you prepare an answer to a question then you are being proactive and choosing what is important to say. When you dont prepare, you simply say what comes to mind. To help you appreciate the difference, Ive listed the 4 interview questions that are most often over-looked for their strategic importance: 1. Tell me about yourself? During one interview I conducted, a candidate took 19 minutes to answer this question! Thats entirely too long! The importance of this question cant be underestimated. This is a chance to make a great first impression and even set the direction for the interview. Check out this post for more on Tell me about yourself? Dos: succinctly answer this question so the interviewer knows a high-level background, what you specialize in and have accomplished and what you are looking for next in your career. Donts: dont ramble on about every job youve had in detail. You dont have to talk about every job youve had, in fact, maybe only your most recent one. Also, dont bring up irrelevant details or start listing accomplishments that dont have any bearing on the job you are interviewing for. 2. Why are you interested in working for this company? The biggest factor that gets candidates eliminated from consideration is that he or she doesnt show interest in the actual job or the company. You do this by showing you didnt research the company, didnt prepare for the interview and dont have a good answer as to why you are interested. Youd be shocked how many good candidates are eliminated from this alone. Dos: address why you are interested in the company and why you are excited about the job description. You have to be genuine but you should spend enough time researching the company and thinking about the role to find what motivates you. Tell a short story about that motivation. Donts: dont explain how your friend sent you the job posting so you thought youd throw your resume in to see what happens. THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS QUESTION IS ABOUT. Dont forget to include your genuine motivation for wanting this particular job at this particular company. 3. Why are you looking for a new job? Your motivation is a big factor in getting a job offer. Your actual motivation will show through during an interview so look out for this question and realize that if you arent passionate about wanting to move jobs, you wont move forward in the interview process. Dos: show your interest in THIS job. your employer wants to know that you are genuinely interested in your career and your motivation comes from within and not because of some external factors, like a reduction in force. Donts: dont lead with reasons why your current job isnt working out. Dont come across as too casual about your motivation. Without some passion, the interviewer may dismiss you. 4. Give me an example of a when you This is your chance to show that 1) you can do the job they are hiring you for and 2) you can do the job well. Preparation here is key because you need an appropriate example and you need to be able to tie it back to the expectations of the role you are applying for. Dos: respond with examples of real results; if you dont have them, use examples that show you have, at least, done the job. Find the right balance of telling a story with sufficient detail and keeping your response concise and efficient. Donts: stay away from using an example from a job that isnt really related to the position you are applying to. Dont lose sight of the specific example the interviewer asked for even though you are telling a story dont lose track of answering the question that was asked. My advice is straightforward: you cant look past these questions you have to prepare. It only takes a few minutes and will always make a big difference! Think of it this way: you wouldnt go into a meeting with your Vice President without preparing what you were going to present would you?

How to explain a career gap on your LinkedIn profile - CareerEnlightenment.com

How to explain a career gap on your LinkedIn profile LinkedIn 12 Facebook Twitter 6 Google+ People take breaks from their careers for a number of different reasons: for example, to raise a family, to travel, to volunteer, or simply because they were made redundant and didn’t find a new job straight away. Despite the fact that most of the time the rationale behind the gap in a CV is perfectly valid, for many hiring managers, it raises alarm bells that could see your application dismissed straight away if not explained appropriately.Honesty and disclosure are almost always the best policy when it comes to anomalies in your work history, and that starts with your LinkedIn profile. Here’s how to position your time out to ensure potential employers consider your submission.Short-term breaks. This is the one exception to the disclosure rule. If your time away from work spanned less than one calendar year, your best strategy might be to simply show only years in the ‘Experience’ section of your profile. You’ll find a drop-down menu for both, but it’s not mandatory to include months. You will, however, need to be consistent throughout your experience history to avoid raising questions in the mind of recruiting managers. And when it comes to the interview stage, be prepared to discuss your time out. Equally, the idea of adding a sabbatical or mid-career break to your online resume can seem daunting. However, an obvious break in experience can leave a question mark in the mind of potential employers. It’s much better to be upfront about the gap in your timeline, and see this as an opportunity to let people know what you learned during your time away from work.In the ‘Experience’ section, you will typically state your title and employer for each position you’ve held. This is a little less straightforward when it comes to describing your time out of work.In the job title box, add a short snappy explanation of what you were up to on your break. If you were taking parental leave, ‘Full-time parent’ should suffice. Alternatively, a pioneering campaign by agency Mother New York The Pregnancy Pause allows job hunters to list ‘Mum’ as their official job title and ‘The Pregnancy Pause’ as their employer. For a sabbatical or career break, position your time out as intentional, purposeful and valuable. Pick out an activity or project that you worked on during your break, for example, ‘Volunteer English teacher’ or ‘Post-graduate student’. If there is an organization you worked with during this time, use this in the employer box.Personal SummaryYour personal summary is an opportunity to explain, in your own word s, the reason why you took a career break and the value the experience brought to you. Emphasize what you learned during your time away and, if you are coming back from a break, explain what has prompted your return to work and why you feel you are ready. Outline the new skills and abilities you’ve picked up due to the experiences you’ve encountered. Most importantly, be clear about what you are looking for from the next stage of your career, and what you have to offer a potential employer.Your career gap doesn’t need to be a barrier to finding a great new job. Being honest on your LinkedIn profile, highlighting the value of the timeout and positioning your intentions clearly to recruiting managers will ensure your application doesn’t get overlooked.
